HeatShield is a cerfractory foam compound that resurfaces deteriorating clay flue tiles without removing them. It's appropriate when the tile structure is intact but the surface is spalling or cracked. A full stainless steel liner replacement is necessary when tiles are missing, shifted, or severely damaged - common in Dallas homes built before 1980 with original construction. We'll show you the camera footage and explain which category your flue falls into. The decision is yours, and we'll document either way.

Yes. We install Gelco and Famco stainless steel caps with lifetime warranties against rust-through. In Dallas, where sudden hail and high winds are common, a proper cap prevents water intrusion that destroys fireboxes and rusts out metal dampers. We measure on site and can often install same-visit if you approve the quote. The price depends on flue count and cap style - we put it in writing before we start.

Every professional working under our name is required to hold the license and insurance their state requires, and we verify it before they ever enter a Dallas home. Their license numbers are on file and available on request. We're also insured and bonded as a company. This isn't a guarantee we make lightly - it's a requirement we enforce, part of Clause 3 of the Haven Standard.

A chimney fire - loud cracking or popping, dense smoke, or a hot smell from the walls - is an emergency. Evacuate and call 911 first, then call us for the damage assessment. Suspected carbon monoxide exposure (headache, nausea, confusion while the fireplace is running) also requires immediate action: get to fresh air, call emergency services, then have us inspect. Everything else, including suspected damage from Dallas hailstorms or minor leaks, can typically wait for a scheduled appointment. We'll help you triage when you call.

Liner installations carry the manufacturer's warranty - Olympia Chimney and HeatShield both offer lifetime residential warranties on their products, which we register for you. Repairs carry terms spelled out in your written quote. Clause 1 of the Haven Standard means you see all of this before anyone starts work.

You own the footage. We show you what we found, explain the NFPA guidelines that apply, and tell you whether a repair is urgent, advisable, or can wait. Some cracks are cosmetic. Some are structural.
