Level 1 sweep and inspection to the NFPA 211 annual standard - flue, crown, cap, and flashing checked and photographed
Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Dallas Team Behind Emberly Chimney Cleaners Dallas
Our crew is what makes the Haven Standard real. We’re the ones who climb the ladders, run the cameras, and write the prices before any work starts. Every member of our Dallas team is background-checked, uniformed, and trained to the same protocol we’ve followed since 2009. What unites us is simple: we say what we found, we say what it costs, and we document every step so you have a record you can hold in your hand.
Our People
Corrine Halstead, Owner
I started Emberly Chimney Cleaners in 2009 after watching too many homeowners get vague verbal estimates that ballooned once the truck was in the driveway. That doesn’t happen here. I’m on-site for complex jobs, I review every photo record before it goes to the customer, and I personally handle any call that comes in under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. I keep a battered field notebook from our first year in Dallas; it’s full of liner diagrams and creosote notes from chimneys we’ve since serviced three or four times over. When I’m not checking smoke chamber parging or arguing with suppliers about DuraFlex pricing, I’m usually restoring an old pickup truck in my garage in Oak Cliff. I answer the phone myself some nights. It’s still the best way to know what’s actually happening in the field.
Marcus T., Lead Technician
Marcus has been running sweeps and Level 2 inspections for twelve years, the last six with us in Dallas. He’s NFPA 211 certified and specializes in masonry evaluation, particularly spalling brick and crown integrity in the older homes around Lakewood and Swiss Avenue where the freeze-thaw cycle hits hard. Marcus can read a flue liner like most people read a newspaper, and he’s the one we send when a customer brings us a competitor’s estimate for a second opinion. He coaches youth basketball in South Dallas on weekends and has a running bet with the crew about which ZIP code has the worst squirrel damage to chimney caps. He’s currently winning with 75214.
Elena R., Senior Installer
Elena handles our liner installations, chimney cap and crown work, and full rebuilds. She came to us from commercial HVAC, which shows in how she thinks about airflow and draft dynamics. She’s particularly good at explaining why a stainless steel DuraFlex liner makes sense versus aluminum in a Texas climate where summer attic temperatures can exceed 140 degrees. Elena is HeatShield certified for smoke chamber resurfacing and is the only member of our crew who genuinely enjoys working on steep-pitch roofs in July. She lives in Richardson with two rescue dogs who have learned to stay far away from her work boots. Her pet peeve is finding cricket installations done without proper saddle flashing; she’s fixed more of those than she can count.
Darnell K., Service Coordinator
Darnell is the voice you hear when you call (972) 284-1392 at midnight with a draft problem or a bird in your flue. He’s been with us since 2017 and knows every technician’s schedule, every material lead time from Olympia Chimney and Copperfield, and every permitting quirk in Dallas County. He writes the initial scope descriptions, confirms the written price before we dispatch, and sends the text alerts when your technician is en route. Darnell grew up in Pleasant Grove and still lives there; he can tell you which neighborhoods built in the 1950s have the original terra cotta liners that are finally reaching end of life. He keeps a wall map of Dallas with pins for every chimney we’ve serviced. The map is getting crowded.
Jesse P., Apprentice Technician
Jesse joined us in 2023 after completing his fire science coursework at El Centro College. He’s working toward his CSIA certification while handling sweeps, basic inspections, and camera documentation under Marcus’s supervision. Jesse has a sharp eye for Class III glazed creosote, the hard, tar-like buildup we see in Dallas when homeowners burn unseasoned oak or run their fireplaces like furnaces all winter. He’s already developed a reputation for spotting cracked flue tiles that others miss. Jesse lives in East Dallas and spends his off hours fishing at White Rock Lake, where he applies the same patience to catfish that he brings to a stubborn smoke shelf. He asks better questions than most techs with twice his experience.
One Standard, Every Job

The Haven Standard wasn’t designed in a conference room. It came from 38,000 jobs, most of them right here in Dallas and the surrounding cities we serve. Every technician on this page operates under the same clauses: written price before work starts (Clause 1), verified and uniformed crews (Clause 2), arrive on schedule with text notification (Clause 3), documented photo record on every visit (Clause 4), and the 365-Day Done Right Promise that stamps every invoice. We source materials through Haven’s buying network, DuraFlex to Copperfield, specifically to keep customer prices honest. Whether Marcus is evaluating crown damage in Highland Park or Elena is running a liner in Oak Cliff, the protocol is identical. The standard doesn’t change because the ZIP code does. That’s the point.
Corrine Halstead reviews every photo record and every written scope that leaves this shop. If something’s not done right, she’ll be the one who answers when you call to invoke the promise. No voicemail. No runaround. Just the same person who started the company in 2009, still checking the work.
